On Friday 20 March 2014, Lotus Medical Foundation’s PPTCT project organized a wellness drive in the community of HIV positive Mothers who were under the pressure of passing the disease to their children, to boost the confidence and support among them. Total 51 children participated in this drive along with their parents and caretakers.

The children were divided in three age groups – 6 to 18 months, 18 to 36 months and 36 to 60 months. Their weight and height was checked followed by Health check up by eminent paediatricians and necessary medical test were carried out.   Lectures were delivered by those paediatricians in simple language regarding healthy diet, hygiene and medicines

Dr. Kimaya Shah, Managing Trustee of the Foundation, said, “The daylong drive was mainly to keep a track of our patients, beneficiaries and boost their confidence by treating them like normal people. A small scale baby wellness competition was part of the drive. Another message we want to spread among the patients and caretakers is though these people and some of children are HIV positive, they can live normal life without any discrimination and fear of death as fear of death is high in HIV/AIDS.

Inner wheel club of Rotary, Kolhapur and Emcure pharma supported this activity.
